There seems to be a lot of confusion about just where Alaska is located. Many people believe that it is floating near Hawaii or Oregon because of what they have seen on maps. This is not the case. Alaska is located west of Canada, it borders the Canadian Provinces of British Columbia and Yukon Territory. And Alaska is most definitely not an island.
This blog is here to inform you about the real Alaska. Not a politician's Alaska or a reality T.V. show's Alaska. This is Alaska from the perspective of an Alaskan.

How Big Could it Possibly be?
Understanding just how large Alaska is can be a difficult task. Numerically speaking is is 591,000 square miles. To understand that number better I have included a visual. You can see here that Alaska makes up one-third of United States. If you put Alaska over the rest of the United States, it will reach from Jacksonville, Florida all the way to San Francisco, California. If you can understand how large Alaska really is, then you will understand why Alaska is so unique.
A Basic Guide to Understanding Alaska
Alaska always seems to be pushed to the edges of a map, it is minimized and put next to Hawaii, because of this two of the greatest misconceptions people have about Alaska are its size and location. Understanding the scope of just how large Alaska is, and just where it is will help you understand the answers to many questions about Alaska.
